The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami is excited to announce the launch of FROST SESSIONS: A PODCAST ABOUT ALL THINGS MUSIC.

The audio/visual podcast will be hosted by a variety of the school’s renowned faculty and alumni artists, along with innovative students, and will feature conversations with top music professionals who share their experiences and discuss what’s new and happening in the world of music, from performing and composing to technology, innovation, marketing, business, timely news, current events, and more.
 
“Our faculty and alumni are some of the most successful and forward-thinking professionals in music today,” said Shelton G. (Shelly) Berg, Dean of the Frost School of Music, who hosts the premiere episode.  “I am thrilled we have created this platform to share and explore everything music, featuring insightful conversations with special guests, each of whom are some of the most accomplished in their respective fields.”
 
The first Frost Sessions podcast is at Noon on October 6, 2020 – Bebop Fairytales with Mark Ruffin & Dean Shelly Berg:
Our premiere podcast features our very own Dean Shelly Berg, who is a Steinway piano artist and multi-Grammy nominated arranger and producer, along with Emmy Award-winning, GRAMMY® nominated host of Sirius XM’s “Real Jazz” Mark Ruffin. Together they dive into the history of Jazz, as Ruffin celebrates his 40th anniversary in broadcasting and the release of his first book Bebop Fairytales: A Historical Trilogy of Jazz, Intolerance and Baseball.
 
October 20, 2020 at Noon – The Art of Marketing an Album with Maria Schneider and Michael Dudley

Our second episode features the Frost School’s HMI Artistic Director, multi-GRAMMY®-winner in the classical and jazz genres, and legendary composer and band leader Maria SchneiderMichael Dudley, current DMA student at the Frost Studio Music & Jazz department, has worked closely with Schneider in HMI. “Not only is he a wonderful player,” states Maria; “I’ve also enjoyed experiencing his great gifts as a writer and thought he’d be a fun interviewer— and I was right!” Explore the pioneering marketing of her albums which took the music industry by storm, beating the formidable competition for each of her GRAMMY® Awards.” They delve into the process surrounding her latest double-album release “Data Lords,” which NPR’s Nate Chinen calls, “the most daring work of Schneider's career, which sets the bar imposingly high.”
