Five Frost Alumni Receive Latin GRAMMYS®

Alumni taking home the coveted award this year are Julio Reyes Copello (M.M. ’00) who tops the list with two and George Noriega, (B.M.’96),  Natalia Ramírez (M.A. ’17),  Carlos Fernando López (M.M. ’12) and José Valentino (M.M. ’12), each receiving one for a total of six awards.

The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami congratulates our five gifted alumni who received Latin GRAMMY Awards at the 21st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards ceremony held November 19, 2020. The Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards is the preeminent international honor that celebrates excellence in Latin music and is the only peer-presented Latin music accolade.

Alumni taking home the coveted award this year are Julio Reyes Copello (M.M.'00) who tops the list with two and George Noriega (B.M.'96), Natalia Ramirez (M.A. 17), Carlos Fernando López (M.M. '12), and José Valentino (M.M. '12), each receiving one for a total of six awards. It is worthy to note Julio Reyes Copello as producer and engineer and Natalia Ramirez as engineer won Record of the Year for their work together on Contigo by Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz. Carlos Fernando López, along with José Valentino won Best Classical Contemporary Composition for Sacre, which was Carlos' final project to receive his Master's in Composition at Frost.
