The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami is pleased to announce two esteemed faculty members of the Music Engineering Technology Program (MUE) are also currently best-selling authors. Associate Professor and Program Director Will Pirkle’s (B.M. ’89, M.S. ’91) latest book Designing Audio Effect Plugins in C ++ With Audio Signal Processing Theory and Assistant Professor Chris Bennett’s, (B.S. ’05, M.S. ’07, Ph.D. ’10) recently released book Digital Audio Theory both were #1 New Releases and remain active in the Top 10 on Amazon’s Best Seller List for Computer/DSP books.

In addition to his latest best-seller, Will Pirkle’s new book release, the 2nd edition of Designing Software Synthesizer Plugins in C++ set to publish in June 2021, has also reached #1 New Release status through pre-release sales. Among his numerous accomplishments, he is also the developer of the RackAFX™ Plugin Development Software and the ASPiK™ open-source audio plugin framework.

An avid researcher, Chris Bennett is currently working with faculty and students on investigating the impact of patent-pending auditory biofeedback technology to improve rehabilitation. This interdisciplinary research project is in collaboration with the University of Miami Department of Physical Therapy and the Miami Veteran Affairs Hospital.
