The Stamps Brass Quintet, the newest ensemble in the elite Stamps Scholars Program, joined the Frost School this year. Graduating in 2028, they were selected for their exceptional musical talent, leadership potential, and academic merit. All receive four-year scholarships covering all expenses and enrichment, such as travel to summer festivals.
They are already accomplished musicians. French horn player Taylor Bowen-Longino, of Maryland, played in the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra and has performed at the White House. Trumpet player Sei Denning, of Texas, played in multiple All-State Bands and was principal trumpet in the Amarillo Youth Symphony Orchestra. Trumpeter Ian Laufer, of Florida, is a five-time Florida All-State Conference ensembles member and played in two University of Miami Honor Bands. Tubist Zach Larakers, of Illinois, was principal tubist in the All-State Honors Orchestra and Honors Band. Trombonist Colin Mendenhall, from Indiana, played in multiple high school ensembles and the All-State Band.
Funded by the Stamps Charitable Foundation, founded by Penny and E. Roe Stamps, the Stamps Scholars Program is a prestigious international program that brings an exceptional new group of musicians to the Frost School each year. The program’s other ensembles are the Stamps Woodwind Quintet, Stamps String Quartet, and Stamps Jazz Quintet.
