In recent ratings, the University of Miami School of Law garnered high rankings for its innovation and graduates promoted from associate to partner at law firms across the U.S. and locally.
Pre-Law Magazine ranked Miami Law as being one of the highest performing law schools in terms of employment in its 2018 fall edition and as one of the "20 Most Innovative Law Schools" in its fall 2017 edition.
Cambridge University included Miami Law as a "Leader in Learning" and one of the most innovative law school's in its recent publication Innovation 800, and The Financial Times, in 2015 and 2016 ranked Miami Law as one of the most innovative law schools in the world.
Innovation accolades also came for Miami Law's specialty areas, such asBillboard Magazine ranking Miami Law in 2017 as a top school for music law the U.S.
The Spring 2016 edition of the National Jurist put Miami Law in the top 50 in the article "Top schools for making partner."
In the fall of 2015 National Law Journal released its “Go-To Schools” rankings, and Miami Law came in 15th for most associate-to-partner promotions among all law schools in the publication’s listing of schools with alumni promoted to partner in 2014. In this category, Miami Law placed ahead of Duke (16), University of Florida (23), Stanford (30), and Tulane (23). This moves Miami Law up seventeen slots in the publication’s rankings of associate promotion to partner in 2013.
In addition, the Daily Business Review came out with its annual “Special Report 2014-15 New Law Firm Partners” which has Miami Law with the highest percentage of graduates from any law school promoted to partner. Sixty alumni (27.91% of those listed) were promoted to partner surpassing the University of Florida, Florida State, Georgetown University, Emory Law and others.

“Initiatives include our Litigation Skills and Externship Programs, LawWithoutWalls,Partnership for Professionalism, a comprehensive Legal Communications curriculum and lastly our innovative Professional Development and Leadership Program, which includes a Legal Career Paths course and a short course first offered this spring on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®,” said Cox. “Our focus on skills that employers value helps close the gap between law school and real-world practice, and facilitates the transition from law student to successful and productive law practice.”
Data for the National Law Journal’s “Go-To” law schools and alumni partnership rankings was compiled from its annual survey of the nation’s 350 largest law firms, and data from the Daily Business Review’s Special Report was compiled from sixty South Florida firms reporting new partners.
