When asked to reflect on this milestone, Julie Braman Kane, J.D. '93 and President of the Law Alumni Association Board of Directors says, "25,000 strong, Miami Law alumni run national and international law firms, serve the public interest in the judiciary, legislatures, the halls of Congress, and as prosecutors, defenders and public interest lawyers. Our beloved school educates fine lawyers and importantly fine citizens of the world – and we are proud and honored to hire and work with our fellow alums. We are Miami Law Proud!"

Miami Law alumni have expressed their lifelong loyalty to the School of Law community, and they demonstrate it every day by generously investing their time, talents, expertise, and resources to assist members of their alma mater.

Georgie Angones, Assistant Dean of Law Development & Alumni Relations agrees, “Since the school graduated the first class in 1929, Law Alumni can be found at the helm of some of the most prominent law firms, corporations and foundations nationally and internationally. You can find distinguished alumni in leadership positions at every level of government and in public service. They are leaders of the bench and bar and generously contribute their time, talent, and treasure to help our students.”

In addition, the importance of this network cannot be overemphasized. Miami Law’s alumni community is a tremendous human resource for current students. They generously donate countless hours to help students perfect their job search skills and learn about practicing law. They also to coach and judge our moot court and trial teams.

Alumni in private firms, the judiciary, government service and nontraditional legal careers regularly visit campus to talk with students about their specific fields of practice, answer students’ questions and conduct mock interviews. They also host networking meetings with students in their cities and provide students employment opportunities.

All these movers and shakers started their careers on campus, and it is no wonder they have garnered accolades; a few from 2021 include:

We are in the top 15 of all U.S. law schools for alumni recognized by Super Lawyers magazine.

Many alumni also help students obtain valuable legal experience by hiring them for clerkships and internships. Alumni also provide monetary support that allows us to attract and retain top students and faculty members. To say that the Miami Law community would not be nearly as strong without the support of alumni would be an extreme understatement.

Miami Law appreciates all the 25,000+ alumni and how they assist the law school and students in a wide variety of ways, large and small.

Angones concurs, “They are a source of pride to all of us. They are a bright shining star in the crown of our Miami ‘U’.”
