University of Miami Libraries (UML) is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Clark-Hughes as the director of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science Library. Angela joined UML in 2004 and has served as the interim director of the Rosenstiel Library since 2016. During this time, she built upon her extensive experience with library education, outreach, and collection management to help the Rosenstiel Library grow and improve faculty and student services. Among other accomplishments, she has collaborated with library and campus partners to bring additional services to the Rosenstiel Library, including GIS support, data management, and writing consultations; co-taught a course on research data curation; and served as a member of multiple U-LINK interdisciplinary research teams. Behind the scenes, Angela has worked steadily with her colleagues at the library and information technology to develop a new online catalog, redesign the library website, and increase digital access to archives and distinctive collections. Over the course of her tenure she has been active in ensuring that the Library is a renovation priority for the Rosenstiel campus.

As director of the Rosenstiel Library, Angela is responsible for supervising staff, budget planning and oversight, managing the facility, and leading library programs that support faculty and student research and learning. She is the co-chair of the Rosenstiel School Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEIC) and also serves as the contact point for Library-related activities at the Rosenstiel School campus.

Angela is an active member of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC) and was recently voted president-elect 2021–2022—a tremendous acknowledgment of her expertise and leadership in the field.
