University of Miami Libraries denounces recent deaths, condemns violence and racism
Supporting our Asian and Asian American community

The University of Miami community, along with many other voices and demonstrators from across the country, has responded strongly to the March 16 mass shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, where eight people were shot and killed, six of whom were Asian American women.

The University of Miami Libraries (UML) acknowledges that this past year has been one filled by vicious race-baiting around COVID-19 from the highest levels of this country’s leadership and that this has endangered Asian and Asian American and Pacific Islander people across the nation. UML extends our deep sympathies and care to the Asian and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.

UML endorses the Association of Research Libraries Statement on Violence against AAPI Communities and reaffirms our Statement of Commitment to stand against racism and in favor of social justice.

For additional information, please visit UML's Racial Justice Resources research guide, which includes AAPI resources.
