Erica Newcome, STEM and interdisciplinary research librarian for the Libraries.

University of Miami Libraries is pleased to announce the appointment of Erica Newcome as the new STEM and interdisciplinary research librarian for Learning & Research Services at the Otto G. Richter Library. Erica comes to us with a STEM and interdisciplinary background, as well as experience in user engagement, teaching, research support, and collection development. She serves as the liaison to the College of Engineering and to the departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics. In her role, she is dedicated to supporting academic research by providing consultative and instructional support for students, faculty, and researchers. Erica is also passionate about promoting STEM disciplines to underrepresented groups.

Prior to her appointment with the Libraries, Erica simultaneously served as Technical Processing & Collections project assistant for the Earth Sciences & Map Library at the University of California, Berkeley, and as a reference librarian at the College of Marin in Kentfield, California. She also previously served as a reference librarian at the Mill Valley Public Library in California. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Conservation and Resource Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.
