The University Libraries are pleased to welcome Lily De La Fuente as the humanities librarian for the Learning and Research Services division, effective July 22, 2024. In this role, Lily provides instruction, consultations, collection development services, and acts as the liaison to the University’s departments of classics, English, philosophy, theater arts, and writing studies.

Lily comes to the University of Miami Libraries from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where she served as the liaison to the departments of ancient Mediterranean studies, Arabic, French, Greek, Latin, philosophy, religion, and Spanish. At Reed College, she managed the library's first-year instruction program, created wayfinding videos, staffed the reference desk, and founded the Multicultural Resource Center Book Club. She also served as an Association of College and Research Libraries Resident Librarian for Immigration and Migration Studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from 2017 to 2019, where she worked with bibliographers, librarians, and students to explore how libraries can support immigration, migration, and diaspora studies across Harvard’s libraries and archives.

Lily earned a Master of Science in Information Studies degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and French Language from Texas A&M University.
