The University Libraries are delighted to welcome Elida Velado Salazar as the first-year experience librarian for the Learning Commons at the Richter Library, effective June 16, 2025. In this role, Elida provides consultative and instructional services to undergraduate students, coordinates programming in collaboration with Learning Commons partners, and supports first-year directions courses. She also serves as the Libraries’ lead liaison for the Platform for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETAL) at the University of Miami.
Elida comes to the University of Miami Libraries from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she served as a research and instruction librarian, supporting student engagement through tailored instruction and reference solutions.
Elida holds a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising, and applied communications from Florida International University in Miami.
