The University Libraries are pleased to welcome John “Jay” Usseglio as education and outreach librarian for the Department of Learning, Research, and Clinical Information Services at the Calder Library, effective July 28, 2025. In this role, Jay instructs medical students in the NextGenMD curriculum, offering courses on evidence-based practice, information literacy, and research methodologies. He also contributes to the Libraries’ evidence synthesis review service, provides medical reference and information services, and leads outreach and marketing efforts.

Jay joins the University of Miami Libraries from the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, where he was a senior informationist. There, he collaborated with the Office of Scholarship and Research Development in the School of Nursing and supported research through the Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health in the Department of General Medicine.

Jay holds a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from the Boston University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in human physiology from Boston University, both in Massachusetts.
