University of Miami alumnus Cliff Morrison, MSN ’79, was a psychiatric nurse specialist at San Franciso General Hospital in the early ’80s when he proposed and implemented a humane way to treat and care for AIDS patients.
The award-winning film 5B tells the story of Morrison and the other heroic nurses and caregivers who worked in the nation’s first HIV/AIDS hospital ward during the 1980s epidemic.
On Friday, January 24, the School of Nursing and Health Studies—where Morrison earned his advanced nursing degree in 1979—will present 5B, a 2019 Cannes Film Festival selection, in the Simulation Hospital Auditorium (2nd floor) at the M. Christine Schwartz Nursing Center, 5030 Brunson Drive, Coral Gables.
Morrison will be in attendance to introduce the film. He will also take part in a Q&A following the screening. This event is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with light breakfast fare. The screening begins at 9 a.m.
