The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) is proud to spotlight the transformative work of undergraduate student leaders who are redefining the intersection of data science and social responsibility. Through the Data Analytics and Intelligence for Social Impact (DAISI) program, these student leaders are driving initiatives designed to improve access to technical skills and promote the ethical application of computational, quantitative, and qualitative analysis within the university community.

Pioneering Peer Mentoring in Data Literacy

Exercise Physiology Major SEHD Dean's Ambassador Foote Fellow

Athena is broadening the scope of student-led peer mentoring in data literacy. Her efforts focus on community accessibility through the development of online learning modules. She successfully created a comprehensive, asynchronous resource that allows all undergraduate students to master foundational R and Excel programming skills on demand.

CURRENT FOCUS

Developing advanced modules for applied computational and quantitative analysis using R and Python.

GOAL

Ensuring the next generation of professionals across all disciplines is equipped with the tools to innovate responsibly.

Fostering Ethical Data-Driven Problem-Solving

Liam and Yanni are guiding a vital effort to foster ethical data-driven problem-solving through the creation of the Peer-to-Peer Quantitative Reasoning Workshops & Bootcamp. Recognizing the need for scalable support, they dedicated the fall semester to researching and developing a six-part workshop series that utilizes R, Python, and Excel.

Planning the development of a novel interactive AI tool for computational analysis to support student learning and responsible technology integration.
