The University of Miami Libraries are pleased to welcome Saily Marrero as librarian for nursing and health studies, biology, and psychology at the department of Learning & Research Services in the Otto G. Richter Library, effective October 24, 2022. In this role, Saily collaborates with librarians and partners across the University to advance the Libraries’ support of scientific learning and research. Sharing her time between the Richter Library on the Coral Gables campus and the Louis Calder Memorial Library at the Miller School of Medicine, she enhances access and library expertise for students, faculty, and researchers.

Prior to this appointment, Saily worked at the Calder Library for four years as senior library assistant in the Access Services Department, where she assisted library users over the phone, chat, email, and in person. She also participated in collection management projects and coordinated the Calder Library’s social media content, among other duties.

In May of this year, Saily received her Master of Science in Information from Florida State University, and as part of that program, she served as an intern to Professor Barbara Sorondo in the Department of Learning, Research, and Clinical Information Services at the Calder Library. During her internship, she produced research guides and FAQs for medical students and developed expertise in Medline, CINAHL, PsycInfo, and other databases. She is currently in the process of completing her Systematic Review Services Specialization from the Medical Library Association.
