The University Libraries are pleased to announce the appointment of Yvette Yurubi as processing archivist for the Manuscripts and Archives Management department, effective November 10, 2022. In this role, Yvette manages the appraisal, arrangement, and description of distinctive collections’ manuscripts and archival materials in all formats, and she ensures compliance with professional descriptive standards. She also engages in educational and outreach events that support research and teaching at the Libraries.

Yvette brings a decade of experience working first in Special Collections and subsequently in the Manuscripts and Archives Management department at the University Libraries. In addition to her archival work, she has supervised and trained interns and student assistants on processing collections and curating exhibits, and she was a frequent blog writer for Special Collections’ online newsletter, “Mosaic.” Prior to her library experience, she served as an Asian studies intern at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, U.S.A., and as an English teacher in Nagoya, Japan.

In May 2021, Yvette earned her Master of Science in Information from Florida State University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, with concentrations in anthropology and East Asian studies, from New York University.
