Carmen Cid Orthopedics, UHealth She is an outstanding surgery scheduler and a great team player. She always goes the extra mile to accommodate patients and takes her time to explain the procedures. I receive a lot of positive feedback from the surgery patients in orthopedics.
Danay Padilla Central Business Office I would like to thank Danay for training me with such dedication in my new management role at the CBO in spite of having stepped up to a new position herself. I appreciate all the hours spent training me!
Alexis Caballero Central Business Office Alexis was very collaborative as I transitioned to a management position at the CBO. He is always available for my questions and keeps calm in all situations! I appreciate his help very much and am happy to be part of the same team!
Vivian Hughes Orthopedics Vivian has been an asset to me as my co-pilot on a new software called Olive AI that we are pioneering in the Uchart system for orthopedics. She has been a crucial sounding board in giving insight to launching this software by sharing her knowledge of orthopedics CPT codes and insurance portals. She has been with the Department of Orthopedics for approximately 14 years. She's a great team player and a great asset to our Orthopedic Division.
Noelia Escudero Patient Access Noelia goes above and beyond to assist patients and team members. She always takes the time to listen and applies all her skills and knowledge without any hesitation. We are very grateful to have Noelia on our Patient Access team.
Jennifer Donoso Radiation Oncology Jennifer is a Research Support Coordinator who works under my supervision. She is amazing! She is independent and super responsible. Throughout the pandemic, she has been able to enroll and fulfill the research requirements as in "normal" periods. She goes above and beyond to communicate with research patients and not to miss any needed samples from various locations. She is caring and compassionate with patients and always has a positive attitude. I am blessed to have her on my team.
Jason Ingrao Housing and Residential Life Jason is our department's leader in the area of student housing assignments and occupancy management. Since joining the University in 2019, he has been a key figure in HRL who is able to navigate through the challenges of COVID-19 as well as the high demand for student housing on campus. He supervises a "mighty team of two," but his impact is often unseen--assisting residents and their families through their concerns. Additionally he makes sure our operations are efficient and serve the greatest number of students. He has allowed me to focus on other critical aspects of our overall Housing Facility Strategic Plan and has been a team player working internally with colleagues and externally with campus partners. Some people may not realize how his strong work ethic and drive to make a difference impacts them, but I know I do.
Joanna de Velasco Development and Alumni Relations Joanna is a strategic, thoughtful, and supportive leader. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we faced added stress and serious illnesses, she managed her team and took on more responsibilities. She deftly handled the additional work, and was very compassionate to our team members during their health challenges.
Esperanza Bas Research Pharmacy, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Esperanza is a hard worker! She is always willing to help when we need coverage or are short staff. She takes the initiative to offer assistance when a colleague seems overwhelmed and there is no task too small or great for her. Personally, she has been a caring colleague who is always checking in throughout the day and never says "no."  I'm grateful to work with someone like her.
Nora Gay-Betton Cane Success Center Nora is such a wonderful person. I am a fairly new employee and she took her time to train me. She always answers my questions and has a heart for the UM community. The way she assists students is amazing, and she always goes the extra mile. She has a smile on her face even in difficult times and is so thoughtful when it comes to her team and others. With such a loving and gentle heart, Nora deserves to be recognized for all she does for our students and campus community.  LaTosha Ramsey
Grettel Casales Research Pharmacy Grettel is a senior pharmacy technician who is what I would call a "Super tech extraordinaire!" She is patient and kind to others, always willing to help, and very knowledgeable. Grettel leads by example, taking the initiative to interact with the study coordinators that we work with to ensure that all the patient documents are completely filled out correctly and make sense. She is well-versed in her job and I trust her to execute all tasks with precision and efficacy.
Lucas Beeler Research Pharmacy Lucas is not only an awesome colleague, but he is also a great carpool rider. He is smart and very knowledgeable. His calm temperament makes him an excellent listener and he is usually the voice of reason when we have differences in opinion among the team. He is willing to assist any person throughout the day.
Wendi Owens Enrollment Management Wendi is a great team leader! She is transparent and caring, always willing to take time out of what she is doing to guide or coach us, no matter what the situation calls for. Wendi is a determined leader who works hard and we appreciate her for her tenacity, clarity, and friendship.
Patricia (Tish) Broadhurst College of Engineering Patricia is a student advisor for freshmen. Students love and respect her for her ability to be direct, yet diplomatic. Her positivity and humor have been so helpful in putting out many "fires" in student lives. Definitely, she is one of the core employees at the college and needs to be recognized for many years of excellent, selfless service.
Michelle Pestaina Graduate Financial Aid Michelle is kind and knowledgeable. She listens without prejudice and offers insightful advice. She is always there to work hard and fill in the gaps where needed.
Eisha Henry Graduate Professional Financial Aid Eisha is always professional and courteous. She is a hard worker and always gives her best. She is a great teammate.
Wendi Owens Graduate Professional Financial Aid Wendi is an outstanding leader for our team. She is knowledgeable and knows how to impart that knowledge in a relatable way. Wendi is emotionally intelligent as she knows how to reach all of us, calling us together for moments of collective calm and peace. As our leader she is giving and transparent. All of it is appreciated.
Ivis Rodriguez Orthopedic Ivis is the best supervisor I have ever known. This is not only my opinion, but the opinion of the whole group that works by her side. She is the type of leader that goes above and beyond for everyone arounds her, including the patients and their family members. You can count on her support 24/7. She is an emphatic, strong team player, super hard worker, and a great and talented professional. She has never made us feel like we are just one employee that can be easily replaced. She can help in any area if we need it because she has experience in everything from insurance to surgery process. She helps us excel and overcome any obstacle. I would never disappoint her. I strive to be excellent and like her one day.
Darby Plummer Enrollment Management Darby is not only an influence in the University of Miami workplace but also a star role model in the University's Masters Program in Leadership. I have been able to work closely with Darby in multiple situations. She brings wisdom to the classroom from her director position at the enrollment management office. She is a 4.0 student who works full-time managing the retention rates of incoming classes at the University of Miami. Darby is working on implementing innovative strategies to make incoming classes feel like the U is their home. Specifically, Darby goes the extra mile to reach out directly to students who are having a hard time to help them solve their problems. I am super impressed with her work regarding first-generation students, both locally and internationally. She ensures UM is an inclusive environment and demonstrates that in the classroom as well. She is the first person to help anyone who needs help in class. She is constantly providing insight to give discussion to the class. She has been at University of Miami for more than 10 years and deserves to be recognized.
Margie Andino, Ty Henry, Michelle Schwager, Lori Pryor, Marbella Santamaria, Jennifer Cordova and Estefany Nunez Graduate Business Programs You could not ask for greater loyalty to the University and the Miami Herbert Business School than what this group of individuals has shown since COVID-19 changed the operational landscape at the U. Amidst layoffs and elective departures, they were tasked with additional duties and responsibilities, which is no easy feat. Yet, they remained steadfast in their stated mission of providing the best possible experience to their graduate students from the admissions process through graduation. Their commitment is not limited to their students. It extends to their working relationship with faculty members and colleagues in the university community. This 'lean machine' has persevered through challenges and exceedingly long hours, which they have faced with integrity and the support of one another. I have seen it and, to some degree, lived it with them. At times, my heart breaks for them, but most of all, I feel fortunate and grateful to call them my friends and colleagues. This isn't about me. It is bigger and further reaching than that.
Norberto Lopez Baseball Coach Lopez is unlike an other person I've ever worked with. He takes great pride in his role. He has an infectious, positive attitude that in turn positively affects the rest of the staff, setting an example and inspiring his co-workers to stay proactive. He tirelessly dedicates his time and effort to bettering the team and staff, which are qualities of a great leader. He not only instills a positive attitude of teamwork in the work setting, but also nurtures a climate of care, concern, and respect. He consistently finds ways to help his co-workers outside of work, making him a great friend. His willingness to assist others and his commitment to the U is unequaled.
Dr. Jen Rau Student Affairs Jen leads with compassion and a desire to make UM a great place to work.  She provides support in a way that is inclusive and approachable.
Blanca Canizales UNHC Radiology Since I started at the U, Blanca has been a light. Her welcoming and caring character has allowed me to feel at home. With compassion, she connects with everyone. If you ever need help or resources, she is there to lend a hand. When I think about what it means to be part of the U, I think of people like Blanca. She, along with our team members, makes this an amazing team to be a part of. I am proud to be at the U because of them.
Corey Rodriguez Division of Continuing and International Education Corey has a wonderful attitude and the most generous way of providing student services. This disposition extends to the dynamics of daily work at the office. She's always ready to share her wealth of knowledge with a smile. The University is privileged to have a representative like Corey Rodriguez. Margarita Santiago
Matt Stojakovich Revenue Cycle Matt is the true definition of a team player.  He will always help, no matter how busy he is. Kristen Murphy

Jonathan Corbett Pediatrics Jonathan is my supervisor and mentor. He is kind, supportive, and always available. No matter what he has on his plate, he makes time for you. He knows UM policy and follows it without fault. He expects the same of those he leads because he leads by example. He will support you and roll up his sleeves when the task at hand needs his guidance, but allows you the independence to flourish. He supports an employee's desire to grow and will sit with you to understand how he can support that desire. He is the first to support a good cause through volunteering and donations. He is the Pediatric United Way leader and always collects books or clothes in his office to be donated. I am so very grateful to have him as my supervisor. Frances Castellvi Senti
Honor Jackson Gordon Center of Simulation, Medical Campus Honor Jackson works with simulation patients and simulation center staff to insure quality at all levels of medical education involving simulation. Her youth does not take away from her excitement, passion, and energy, which insures the work she does is both high quality and effective on a daily basis. She is a valued colleague, mentor, and supporter of student and those working as simulation patients. She is always willing to step in to help without even being asked. She is very organized as well. Cynthia Escobar
Aimer Olivera Case manager Although she does happen to be a friend at work, Aimer has a great love for our seniors. We are fortunate Aimer is  never one to give up on our seniors and she goes that extra mile. She is truly an advocate, not just for seniors, but for every person that walks through our emergency department doors. She will often stay late for many who are needing assistance, including placement in a facility or getting a loved one to the shelter for the night. She does all of this with a purple HEART not because it's her job. She supports each and every one of her peers, and I happen to be one of the lucky ones. She often helps me recover patient belongings that are lost or have been misplaced. We are like private investigators trying to solve a mystery in epic to find traces of where patients have been throughout our hospital.  At times we are successful and find the items. We feel her presence in the office and we are lost without her. Louis Hernandez
Sylvia Leon Zaya Oncology Sylvia is a great nurse. She is very attentive, helpful, great at teaching, and very good with teamwork! Natalia
Radiology Team UHealth at Plantation It is hard to pick one person in the Radiology Department. The Department of Radiology at Plantation is a team that works very well together. Every person, whether they are a technician, nurse, clinical assistant or part of the women's center breast team, is willing to help in any area needed. If someone sees one area is busy, they will ask how they can help. If I have a question about anything, I know who I can go to for support and I know they will take the time to explain the answer. This is possible because of our manager, Janine Rodriguez, who leads by example every day! Janine sees the potential in everyone and helps them to crosstrain and develop in other areas. After having worked at several locations and having held a few positions, this radiology team is a well-oiled machine. I have learned so much in this department and can't wait to learn more. Beth Honig-Chin
Michelle Fernandez Gordon Center for Simulation Education As program coordinator for the Standardized Patient Program, Michelle works with director Samantha Syms and is actively involved in the day-to-day operations, which include planning, scheduling, training, and support of the program. While the staff members work as a team, Michelle stands out because of her highly-engaged, professional attention to stakeholder success and provides a quality educational experience to medical students at the University. Superior performance isn't just a slogan with the Patient Simulation department. It is the mantra for everything they do. But, Michelle takes it one step further, insuring that simulated patients, staff members, and  students receive an excellent experience. She has a tremendous knack for communicating as well as coordinating a substantial part of the operation. She is a consummate teammate involved with activities, such as internal and external customer service, cost savings, productivity and work processes, and outstanding department and campus citizenship. She is highly regarded by all and deserves kudos for her strong work ethic and performance. Steve Cohen

His infectious smile and commitment to compassion and creativity has made teamwork an effortless task. I enjoy coming to work every single day and making an impact on campus through our work in the Facilities and Operations Department. Son is a big part of that. His motto of having fun and taking care of the people who take care of us (the University community) has made a positive impact on a lot of the background work that goes on around campus. This work includes taking care of the landscaping and our extensive tree collections, like the beautiful Foote Green field, all the custodial needs and enhanced cleaning initiatives that the University is implementing to ensure all campus elevators are in compliance with state-mandated inspections, Waste Management collection, all the way down to our pavers and concrete. Son has a hand in it all and he ensures that each person he comes in contact with is treated with respect and aware of their value in our University community.
