The Office of Emergency Management will conduct a full system test of the Emergency Notification Network between 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25. This federally required test will include the activation of the following communication methods:
- SMS Text Messages to Cell Phones
- Voice Calls to Cell Phones
- Emergency Information Hotline (1-800-227-0354)
- University of Miami Website Banners
- Emergency Preparedness Website: www.prepare.miami.edu
- Emergency Preparedness Facebook: www.facebook.com/umiamienn
- Emergency Preparedness Twitter: www.twitter.com/umiamienn
- IP Telephone Broadcast
- Gables Campus & CSTARS – Screen Text & Public Address via Speakerphones
- Medical Campus – Screen Text Only
- Campus Cable TV (Gables & Medical Campuses Only)
- Digital Signage (Select Gables Campus Buildings)
- Public Address (Coral Gables and RSMAS Campuses See List Below)
The test messages last approximately one minute and will all clearly state, “This is a test of the UMiami Emergency Notification Network. This is only a test. No further action is required.” Below is the list of areas on the Coral Gables campus covered by the public address system:
