Faculty Senate names 2019 James W. McLamore awardee

Dr. Norman J. Altman of the UM Miller School of Medicine will be honored this spring at the 2019 Faculty Senate Awards Ceremony.

University of Miami Faculty Senate unanimously voted at its Nov. 14 meeting to award the James W. McLamore Outstanding Service Award to Norman J. Altman, professor emeritus in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine, director of the division of comparative pathology and ombudsperson at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Established in 1987, the McLamore Award was named after the co-founder of Burger King and former chair of the UM Board of Trustees to honor a member of the university community who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to the University and community.

Dr. Altman will be presented with the award at the 2019 Faculty Senate Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Monday, April 8, 2019, at 5 p.m. at the Robert and Judi Prokop Newman Alumni Center. All members of the university community are invited to attend the ceremony and the reception that will follow.
