Step it up this month by signing up for the Walking 'Canes step challenge, which kicks off Monday, Feb. 4 and runs through Monday, April 29. The 12-week program is a great way to stay active, motivated, and earn points as part of the Well ’Canes incentives program. Register now for the beginner, intermediate, or advanced level based on your average weekly steps. Data Privacy Day creates awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data, and enabling trust. UM is hosting its second annual Data Privacy Day event on Wednesday, Feb. 6 and you’re invited. Learn from keynote speaker Mary Anne Franks, professor at UM Law School, as she discusses emerging privacy trends that have been triggered by the rapid development of new technologies. Business of health care conference

Technology’s impact on the health care industry and its stakeholders is growing both domestically and globally. On Friday, March 29, the Center for Health Management and Policy at the University of Miami Business School will host its eighth annual health care industry impact conference, “The Business of Health Care: Technology & People: U.S. & Beyond.” Early registration ends on Thursday, Feb. 28. Etch your love in a brick

Think outside the box this Valentine’s Day. Share your love publicly and permanently by purchasing a brick on the Love Bridge. Located at the entrance of UM’s Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center, which is named after the two lovebirds who met and fell in love during their first week as students at the U, the bridge includes more than 360 personalized bricks acknowledging a special someone. Each “love brick” purchase provides UM students with a free physical, nutritional assessment, and motivational information through the Patti and Allan Herbert CHAMP endowment fund. Suit up at JCPenney
Sunday, Feb. 17
UM students, faculty, staff, and alumni with a ’Cane card can get 40 percent off their purchase of professional apparel, including suits, accessories and shoes, at JCPenney of Dadeland during the College Suit Up event on Sunday, Feb. 17 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Students are asked to RSVP as transportation will be provided.
