Emergency notification test Thursday

The Office of Emergency Management will conduct a full system test of the Emergency Notification Network between 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. This federally required test will include the activation of the following communication methods:

  • SMS Text Messages to Cell Phones
  • Voice Calls to Cell Phones
  • Email
  • Emergency Information Hotline (1-800-227-0354)
  • University of Miami Website Banners
  • Emergency Preparedness Website: www.prepare.miami.edu
  • Emergency Preparedness Facebook: www.facebook.com/umiamienn
  • Emergency Preparedness Twitter: www.twitter.com/umiamienn
  • Campus Cable TV (Gables campus only)
  • Digital Signage (Select Gables Campus Buildings)
  • Outdoor Warning Sirens (Gables and Rosenstiel Campuses Only)
  • Public Address (Gables Campus Buildings and Outdoor Areas Listed Below)

The test messages last approximately one minute and will all clearly state, “This is a test of the UMiami Emergency Notification Network. This is only a test. No further actions are required.”
