Together at the starting line

UM’s Katie Meier, head coach of women’s basketball team, shares what it’s like to participate in the annual Dolphins Cancer Challenge, which benefits Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and why you should get involved.

For head coach Katie Meier, cancer is a real thing that affects everyone on and off the court. As part of the ’Canes community for the last 14 years, she’s seen the growth and potential that this university and health system have and is compelled to show her support every year by participating in DCC.

“There’s that one day where the survivors and the people who helped them survive are all at the starting line together and everyone from different walks of life comes together as one. It’s just a really emotional, powerful day,” said Meier.

There’s still time to register for the DCC on April 6 and help Sylvester find new and innovative ways to treat cancer for patients in South Florida, and beyond. Learn how.
