Emergency training sessions at medical campus

Whether it’s preparing for an emergency or responding appropriately to one, UHealth system employees play a significant role at the U keeping patients and others at the medical campus safe. Learn how to properly prepare for and react to a variety of settings, including active shooter and other high-stakes scenarios.

Starting this month, UHealth employees can register to attend one of two active shooter response and seven emergency preparedness training sessions. Active shooter response and emergency preparedness training are a requirement of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Agency For Health Care Administration (AHCA) and The Joint Commission (TJC).

Active shooter response training is an interactive session that incorporates the latest Department of Homeland Security guidance and best practices for individual response to active shooter situations.

Annual emergency preparedness training is a foundational training that provides key emergency response information for the most common hazards we face at the University of Miami and in healthcare facilities. Additionally, the course seeks to empower attendees with highly actionable response steps that can be rapidly implemented during an emergency.
