Here’s what you need to know about this year’s DCC:

The DCC, which provides critical philanthropic support to the University’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a family-friendly team event with the option to run, walk, cycle, or even ride virtually, so there’s something for all members of the ’Canes family.

Incentives and Team Hurricane participation details include:

  • Registration, which typically ranges from $50 to $150, is free for all members of the UM family, including faculty and staff.
  • Participants must fundraise for the event. The University will match an employee’s first contributions, up to $50, toward their fundraising goal.
  • Any University employee enrolled in Well ’Canes will receive 500 wellness points for completing the DCC.
  • All members of Team Hurricanes will receive a Team Hurricanes/UM swag bag, which will include a cycling jersey for cyclists or a t-shirt for runners or walkers, a bag, a hat, and a surprise gift.
  • All UM faculty and staff participants will receive one free ticket for a friend or family member to attend the DCC finish-line celebration. The celebration includes live music, free food, and family activities. Additional tickets can be purchased online for $25 (attendees under the age of 13 enter free of charge).
  •  All Team Hurricanes members will receive 15 percent off at Mack Cycle and Fitness in South Miami (good for one year).
  • The Gables/Marine department that raises the most funds will receive a catered lunch, courtesy of Dr. Jacqueline Travisano. And the Medical Campus department that raises the most DCC funds will also receive a catered lunch, courtesy of Dr. Nimer.
  • Win your team a catered lunch. The team who raises the most revenue will also be entered to receive a catered lunch courtesy of Jacqueline Travisano Ed.D., and Stephen Nimer, M.D. Let the FUNdraising begin!

The Dolphins Cancer Challenge 10 team will be visiting the Coral Gables and medical campuses over the next two weeks to help you register for the DCC. Stop by our table and register or create your own team under Team Hurricanes.
