We’re highlighting the key things you need to know if you plan to participate in Homecoming and Alumni Weekend festivities.

Homecoming kickoff event
Monday, Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to kick off Homecoming week with Spirit Day on Monday, Nov. 4 on the Coral Gables campus Lakeside Patio from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the Spirit Squads, University leadership, Hurricanes Athletics coaches, and participating organizations to celebrate the start of Homecoming with free catered BBQ, live music, and festivities for everyone. Events at Rosenstiel School and medical campus
Tuesday, Nov. 5–Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m.
Take a break to savor free kettle corn at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Rosenstiel School of Atmospheric Science and on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Miller School of Medicine Schoninger Research Quadrangle. Also, claim your vouchers worth $20—available first come, first served—to redeem at the food trucks during Hurricane Howl on Friday, Nov. 8. Don’t forget to bring your ’Cane ID. Monday, Nov. 4–Friday, Nov. 8
During Homecoming kickoff on Monday, Nov. 4, make sure to visit the UM athletics table at the Shalala Student Center for details on tickets for upcoming employee appreciation football and basketball games. Learn more.

Hurricane Howl and UM traditions 
Friday, Nov. 8 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Celebrate with food trucks, a block party, the ’Canes Lounge (formerly Alumni Lounge), boat burning, and fireworks. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and families are invited to join in the fun with live music, kids rides, games, and art displays. Redeem your vouchers worth $20*, which can be picked up during Homecoming events on Nov. 4 (Gables campus), Nov. 5 (marine campus), or Nov. 6 (medical campus). Homecoming is also a time when alumni and friends come together to celebrate being a 'Cane during Alumni Weekend. The annual program includes class reunions, ’Cane Talks, and a number of special events. Learn more about homecoming events geared towards students and alumni.

Bonus: Traffic advisory 
Friday, Nov. 8–Saturday, Nov. 9
With Homecoming on Friday, Nov. 8 expect roadway interruptions on the Coral Gables campus and heightened pedestrian traffic. The Miller Shuttle route will be modified as Miller Circle will close on Friday, Nov. 8 from 3 to 11 p.m. Note that parking enforcement will be lifted in all color parking zones, except purple color zone, from Friday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. through Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 p.m. For questions, contact Parking and Transportation at 305-284-3096, option 2.
