Upgrade your University-owned computer to Windows 10 
Before Tuesday, Jan. 14
Microsoft announced that Windows 7 will no longer be supported after Jan. 14, 2020. To ensure your machine is properly secured and avoid compromising your personal information, upgrade to Windows 10 – at no cost to you. Get started by contacting the UMIT Service Desk at help@miami.edu using the subject line “Windows 10 Upgrade Request.” Prior to upgrading to Windows 10, it is suggested that you copy all of your data/files from your computer to a UM cloud-storage solution, e.g. Box, Google Drive, or Microsoft OneDrive. Learn more about this update.

Sign-up to experience I am the U, new employee orientation
Thursday, Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 at 8:30 a.m.
Get a taste of what it’s like to experience I am the U new hire orientation and watch facilitators during their training period by registering for an upcoming pilot session. The U Facilitator program gives participants the opportunity to improve communication and presentation skills while learning the techniques required to facilitate I am the U new hire orientation sessions. Through the course of training, facilitators network with colleagues from across the University and learn to collaborate with different personality styles in the workplace. Learn more.

Women’s basketball Pride Night
Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m.
Come out for UM Pride Night at the Watsco Center and cheer on the Hurricanes as they take on Clemson University. Join the pregame celebration in the multi-purpose room starting at 4:45 p.m., which will include a panel discussion with a current UM student, former UM student-athlete, and community leaders. Each general admission ticket costs $12 and includes a donation to the University’s LGBTQ Student Center. Tickets will be delivered via email. Holiday schedules and closures

With a new year comes a new calendar and schedules. Gear up for spring semester, which begins on the Coral Gables campus on Monday, Jan. 13. Until then, note special closures or updated hours of operation for many spots off and on campus. Check the University’s holiday calendars to know which days will be observed at each campus and call ahead before planning a visit to specific locations, such as the Lowe Art Museum, library, or Coral Gables campus dining facilities.
