5 things you need to know this week

Parking color zones lifted at Coral Gables campus 
Monday, March 9, through Friday, March 13
With the exception of the purple zone, parking color zone restrictions will be lifted for spring break from Monday, March 9, through Friday, March 13. A parking permit is still required to park on campus between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. The nights and weekend permits are still only valid after 4 p.m. on weekdays and any time on the weekend. Additionally, the University shuttles will have limited service. Color zone restrictions will be reinstated on Monday, March 16. Register for IBISResearch training
Multiple dates available in March starting Monday, March 9
In April IBISResearch—the University of Miami’s new grants and agreements management system—will replace InfoEd, the University’s current pre award system. University staff members who develop and submit proposals and/or agreements are required to take hands-on training prior to accessing the system. Webinar sessions are also available for University faculty members who wish to learn how to navigate the system. Register now for training sessions—search for IBIS on ULearn—to learn about the new system, which will enable users to electronically route and approve proposals; submit most federal applications to Grants.gov; and manage awards, contracts, and agreements in a single portal. RSVP for spring commencement
Deadline to register Friday, March 13, at 5 p.m.
University faculty members may register now to participate in the spring commencement ceremonies, which is open to all. Visit miami.edu/capandgown to RSVP for the ceremony you plan to attend and place an order for your cap and gown. Please note that doctoral dissertation advisers who plan to hood their candidates should also RSVP and rent regalia by the deadline. Contact commencement@miami.edu for more information. Learn more.

Sowing seeds of compassion at work
Tuesday, March 17–Thursday, March 19
Explore how workplace cultures that incorporate compassion have been positively correlated with job satisfaction, commitment to the company, and accountability for performance. Learn  how your positive contributions can impact your work environment during an upcoming seminar. University employees can register to attend a session, which is facilitated by a Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) consultant. TALK for Success
Now through Friday, May 1
The University of Miami’s final TALK performance evaluation process for staff is now open and runs through Friday, May 1, 2020. Please follow the guidelines of your respective department or unit. TALK for Success, the University’s performance review process, focuses on frequent conversations between employees and managers about performance. All supervisors are encouraged to meet with their direct reports during this time to review employee performance and accomplishments made during the current fiscal year.
