Herbert Wellness Center welcomes back faculty and staff.
Starting Monday, Nov. 16.
University faculty and staff with membership at the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center on the Coral Gables Campus may resume using the facility beginning Monday, Nov. 16. Before returning, complete and sign the updated waiver, which you can access via the Wellness Center portal. To make changes to your membership, employees with payroll deduction should email wellnesscenter@miami.edu no later than Friday, Nov. 13, and include their name and C# or employee ID number. At this time, non-employee members—including spouses and dependents of employees—remain unable to use the facility. Learn more.

Explore the power of music and stress management techniques. 
Tuesday, Nov. 17, at noon and 6 p.m.
Attend an interactive presentation offered by Mary Adelyn Kauffman, a board-certified music therapist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. During this one-hour session on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at noon and 6 p.m., Kauffman will demonstrate both active and passive music-based interventions to help participants effectively manage stress. Employees enrolled in UM’s Well ’Canes Incentives program can earn points by attending this session. Find more opportunities to unwind and rebalance, including a session on Tuesday, Dec. 1, aimed at teaching stress management techniques, offered by the University’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.

Ask the experts about the effects of climate change on health.
New date: Friday, Nov. 20, at 12:15 p.m.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, disruptions in the environment can impact our health in a number of ways. Join Carol Lindsey, a family nurse practitioner, member of the Florida Clinicians for Climate Action, and former active duty commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, as she discusses the effects of climate change on our health. Register now to attend this virtual session hosted by the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center. Employees enrolled in UM’s Well ’Canes Incentives program can earn points by attending this session.

Take a meditation break for inner peace and happiness.
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.
Incorporate a mindful practice into your workweek on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. Offered by the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center, the 15-minute guided sessions are led by Lunthita Duthely, an assistant research professor for the Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science. Each session is inspired by meditation teacher Sri Chinmoy and his writings on inner peace. Register to attend.
