Christine Baez

What is your current role and department at UM?
I am a senior financial assistant, Student Activities and Student Organizations.

What degree will you be receiving at graduation?
I will receive a Master of Science in leadership from the Miami Herbert Business School.

How long have you been at the University?
I started as an undergraduate student in 2012; and upon graduation in 2016, I worked as a temporary employee. I was offered my current role in March 2019, where I have served as a full-time employee for two years.

What were some highlights of your time as a student and employee?
Being able to apply what I was learning in the classroom to my job was an incredible experience. It also felt great to share my experience with the students I work with or oversee, because they could relate to my experience, and I could help them with anything that I learned along the way.

What is a favorite UM memory?
I have a fond memory of dressing up with my coworkers for Halloween as the characters from Alice in Wonderland.

Have you received any awards, honors, or special achievements?
In my job, I was recognized as a Workday Super User. As a student, I earned straight A's and an Award of Academic Merit.

Please share advice for employees looking to go back to school.
You can do it! Do not let the fear of failure or the unknown hold you back. It is the most rewarding feeling when you finish your program and have accomplished such a milestone.
