Offered by the Lowe Art Museum and Human Resource's Workplace Equity and Inclusion team, the Connect and Create program uses art as a medium for communication and to encourage diversity of thought and perspective. During the one-hour interactive session, participants are guided through a series of curated works of art and discussion. The sessions are open to all University faculty and staff members. Space is limited and participants must register in advance to attend. In recognition of National Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage (AAPI) Month, the session on Wednesday, May 19, at 5 p.m. will feature works by Toyohara Chikanobu and Roger Shimomura. Take your core and strength training workout to the next level with the help of a certified reformer Pilates specialist at the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center. The program focuses on improving posture, body alignment, and range of motion. Visit the member portal to enroll in the program by May 20. Established in 2002, the contest spotlights work by middle and high school students from public and private schools in South Florida. In collaboration with the Lowe Art Museum, this year the program launched its first digital showcase, which includes more than 345 art submissions and 125 finalists. University students and alumni can make immediate, real-time connections through the Cane2Cane (C2C) program, which is coordinated by the University’s Toppel Career Center. Through a community of professionals across more than 60 industries, participants can access career advice, share knowledge, and learn about possible opportunities. Alumni can network with fellow ’Canes, serve as mentors, and find mentors—who are all committed to helping other ’Canes explore career paths, navigate the work environment, expand their networks, and gain real-time experience.
