Healthy ’Canes Employee Clinics to reopen August 9

The Healthy ’Canes Employee Clinic—a University of Miami Well ’Canes benefit—offers full- and part-time benefits-eligible faculty and staff members convenient access to UHealth medical services for acute illnesses and immunizations on the Coral Gables and Medical campuses. Starting Monday, Aug. 9, both locations will be available from Monday through Friday by appointment only, excluding University holidays.

Staffed by nurse practitioners who are overseen by University of Miami Health System physicians, the cost is $5 per visit (fee waived for immunizations). Employees can make an appointment for an in-person visit—the first appointment is at 7:30 a.m. and the last is at 3:10 p.m.—or a patient can request a virtual consultation for an acute illness. Alternatively, University employees enrolled in the UM/Aetna plan can visit UHealth Clinics at Walgreens for $5 per visit (fee waived for immunizations). You may also receive annual physical exams in preparation for the new school year for your school-aged children, available through Sept. 10. With 14 locations across South Florida, the UHealth Clinics at Walgreens are open seven days a week for virtual or in-person visits. UHealth nurse practitioners provide expert care and can prescribe medications, including antiviral drugs. Same day appointments are available. Learn more and schedule an appointment.

The COVID-19 vaccine is not offered at either Healthy Canes Clinics or UHealth Clinics at Walgreens locations. COVID-19 testing is available at UHealth Clinics at Walgreens locations by appointment as part of a clinic visit, not as a stand-alone service.
