Attend the next Faculty Senate meeting.

Participate in a faculty mentorship program.
Apply by Thursday, Sept. 30.
Offered by the Platform for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETAL), the Course Mentors program provides an opportunity for faculty members to discuss teaching challenges with colleagues from other disciplines. Faculty members can participate in Course Mentor groups with focus areas—teaching large courses, online teaching, difficult classroom conversations, social identities, authentic assessment, experiential learning, and engaging with the literature. Each group will meet six times during the fall semester and is led by an Exemplar Faculty Member and an instructional designer. Apply to participate. Contact petal@miami.edu for more information and read more about the program.

Learn to reset the workplace.
Friday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m.
Tune in for an in-depth conversation with alumnus and University of Miami Trustee Johnny C. Taylor Jr., president and chief executive officer of Society for Human Resource Management, about his new book, “RESET: A Leader’s Guide to Work in an Age of Upheaval”. Taylor will share his candid, forward-thinking vision for leaders to reimagine company culture, along with data-driven strategies to make a foundational reset for work, workers, and the workplace. Taylor’s insight charts the path for businesses facing a new reality and serves as part call to action, part playbook for success to rebuild the modern workforce and meet today's extraordinary challenges. Register to attend.

Get your flu shot—or submit an exemption waiver.
Compliance deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 17.
As part of the University of Miami’s COVID-19 response, students and faculty and staff members on all campuses are required to receive the seasonal flu vaccine or submit an exemption waiver. The shots are currently available for faculty and staff members by appointment at multiple locations on and off campus. Learn more about availability before the upcoming compliance deadline.

Understand the restrictions on offering benefits to prospective student-athletes.
24/7
Regardless of a high school student’s status as a recruit by the University or involvement in a sport in general, the NCAA rules prohibit an institution, its staff members, or boosters from offering, providing, or arranging financial assistance or other benefits, including complimentary admission to an event and donations of tickets or other items to be auctioned off for a high school fundraiser. Learn more about NCAA rules and how to work with the athletics compliance office for guidance on permissible benefits.
