This year, Open Enrollment—your annual opportunity to add, change, or remove benefits—runs  through Friday, Oct. 29. Election changes made during open enrollment are effective on Jan. 1, 2022.

How do I review my plan or make changes?

To make changes, including adding or removing covered dependents, you can login to Workday and click on the Benefits Worklet to make your selections. Remember that covered dependents must provide proof of eligibility. If you are adding a new dependent you will be required to upload documents, such as a birth certificate for a dependent child or a marriage certificate for a spouse.

If you do not make changes, your benefit elections will roll over to next year, with the exception of the Flexible Spending Account. This benefit must be elected each year.

How do I add a dependent?

To add or remove a dependent from your medical, dental, or vision coverage, select the benefit listed in Workday and click “Manage.” Your existing dependents will be listed and you can choose to include or remove them. If the dependent is new and not listed, click “Add New Dependent." You will be directed to a screen to add information about the dependent. When completed, click “Save.” The new dependent will now appear in the list of existing dependents, with a check mark indicating “to be covered.” To add dependents on other benefits, click “Manage” under the specific benefit boxes. The new dependent appears as an existing dependent. Click on the box in front of the dependent’s name to add to each coverage. Press “Save” to finalize.

How do I access mental and behavioral health benefits?

Employees enrolled in an Aetna health plan have access to Carisk Partners, a managed behavioral health organization that provides outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization mental health and substance abuse care.

Carisk can be reached by calling 1-800-294-8642. Additional contact information can be found on your Aetna insurance ID card. Their team of experts also offers free monthly webcasts to assist in coping with real life issues. Find more information here

The University of Miami’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is also available to you, your spouse, and dependents during regular business hours. For more information call 304-284-6604 or visit the FSAP website.

How can I compare costs and benefits of each plan?

Visit www.miami.edu/oe to compare details and costs of each plan, find assistance from benefits experts, and to get answers to frequently asked questions. Faculty and staff members who have additional questions are encouraged to attend a virtual Open Enrollment Information Session. View the schedule and register to attend.
