Despite paused in-person operations at the start of the pandemic, Pablo Abreu, director of campus operations, and his team pivoted their duties to ensure that everyone on campus—humans and marine life—had what they needed to thrive. Abreu shared that the changes and challenges were worth it to have students back on campus. “You can see the excitement and the motivation; the students are happy to be back,” he said. Today, Abreu and his team continue to provide guidance and support for safe in-person research and studies. “We all appreciate each other a little more,” he added. “I think there’s going to be more teamwork and partnership; and I think that’s a better normal.” Hear more about Abreu’s experience at the Marine Campus.
