Medicare-eligible retirees can take advantage of the University’s new retiree medical program, which offers a variety of individual Medicare-supplement health plan options. Offered through Via Benefits—a company that specializes in the transition to supplemental Medicare coverage—eligible faculty and staff members can access resources and benefits. Learn more about your eligibility, how to prepare for enrollment, and find expert advice from Via Benefits, at no cost.

Resources and services provided by Via Benefits.

  • Objective education and support regarding the types of individual plans available, associated costs, and payment options.
  • Advice and decision-making support based on your current coverage and future needs. Via Benefits’ licensed benefit advisors are trained to be your objective advocates, with no incentive to sell any carrier or type of plan over another. Their compensation is never tied to your selection.
  • Assistance with enrolling in medical and pharmacy, dental, and/or vision plans through Via Benefits. Ongoing support after enrollment, including help with coverage or claims.
  • Access to one-on-one customer support and plenty of online tools to ensure you choose a plan that meets your needs.

Finalize your Medicare enrollment before connecting with Via Benefits.

You must enroll in Medicare Parts A and B to be eligible to enroll in an individual plan through Via Benefits. If you need to enroll in Part A and/or Part B, contact your local Social Security office at www.ssa.gov/medicare or by calling 1-800-633-4227 (TTY 1-877-486-2048).

Contact Via Benefits after receiving your enrollment package.

Upon retirement, you will receive an enrollment package from Via Benefits. Once you receive the enrollment package, contact Via Benefits at, 1-833-431-1373 to begin the enrollment process. Via Benefits representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can also use tools and resources online at my.viabenefits.com/UM.
