Faith Zone is a workshop designed to promote religious literacy on campuses and on teams. Participants have a chance to reflect on their encounters with faith and spirituality, examine the global and local context for religious traditions represented on campus, and practice skills for cultivating inclusive environments. Hosted by Faculty Affairs and the Graduate School, this three-hour workshop will be offered via Zoom, and is open to all University faculty and staff members and students. Register now.

The Office of the President is now accepting nominations for the Roberta “Bosey” Fulbright Foote Prize, which will be awarded during the University of Miami’s Earth Day celebration on April 22 to an individual or team who has made an enduring contribution to the beauty, humanity, and future of the University of Miami’s campuses. University students, faculty and staff members, trustees, alumni, and donors are eligible for the award, which President Julio Frenk established in 2017 to honor and further the legacy of the University’s former first lady. Send a nomination letter indicating the category, nominee or group name, and a summary of the contributions to president@miami.edu. Learn more.

The Department of Wellness and Recreation is pleased to announce the return of the Norman C. Parsons, Jr. Golf Tournament at the Palmetto Golf Course. Named after the department’s former executive director and longtime supporter of the University, the tournament invites University students, employees, alumni, and guests to support the Norman C. Parsons, Jr. Family Student Development Endowed Fund to enhance the student employee experience at the Department of Wellness and Recreation. Registration is open through Friday, April 15. Learn to practice mindfulness in community.
Multiple dates; Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
Hosted by the University of Miami Libraries, these 45-minute sessions offer opportunities to learn and practice the fundamentals of mindfulness in community with others. Beginners are welcome. Sessions include guided meditations and periods of questions and responses facilitated by Kelly Miller, a certified mindfulness teacher and associate dean at UM Libraries; professor Scott Rogers, director of the University of Miami School of Law’s Mindfulness in Law Program; or a guest teacher.
