5 things you need to know this week

Special events celebrate LGBTQ+ pride at the University.
Multiple dates through May 2.
While Pride Month is nationally recognized in June, the University of Miami joins colleges and universities across the nation to celebrate in spring as a way to highlight the LBGTQ+ community while a majority of students are on campus and classes are in session. This year the LGBTQ Student Center, University of Miami Alumni Association, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and LGBTQ ’Canes have joined to celebrate with a lineup of events from March 31 through May 2. Starting this week.
The University community can now enjoy the Miller School of Medicine/UHealth market at the Medical Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Open year round from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., visit the Fred Cowell Mall, in front of the Calder Library. Additionally, new vendors have been added to the market at both the medical and Coral Gables locations. Note, the Coral Gables market still will take place on Wednesdays through April 27 and reopens in the fall semester. Learn more and view a full list of vendors scheduled at each location.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month educates and supports. 
Multiple dates starting Wednesday, April 6.
National Sexual Assault Awareness Month provides an opportunity for the University of Miami community to come together to support survivors of sexual assault, as well as have meaningful conversations about how to prevent and address sexual abuse. In support of this important cause, the University’s Title IX Office, It’s on Us student ambassadors, and other campus and community partners will be hosting a number of events that welcome faculty, staff, students, and community members. Attend the Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series. 
Tuesday, April 12, at 5 p.m.
The ocean, the major regulating force in the Earth’s climate system, offers a wide range of potential climate solutions—mitigation and adaptation strategies including ocean-based renewable energy, blue carbon sequestration, and net zero shipping. Hosted by the Alumni Association, join a panel of notable alumni experts for the event, “In Hot Water: Finding Ocean-Based Solutions to the Climate Crisis.” Panelists will share their perspectives on this urgent global crisis, and how we can solve it by working together. Tech Talk: Listserv 101 
Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m.
Take a deep dive into the University's messaging application Listserv. UMIT experts will discuss how to get the most out of the platform and include best practices and answers to frequently asked questions. Register now for the session, which is  appropriate for users of all experience levels.
