Open year round from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., visit the Fred Cowell Mall, in front of the Calder Library. The University community can stop by and enjoy a number of vendors that participate weekly in the market. Offerings include acai bowls, arepas, ceviche, poke, pizza, tacos, and kettle corn, along with cuisine from India, Korea, Peru, Greece, and India, among others.

Participate in free mindfulness sessions at the Lowe.
Multiple dates in May; Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
Recharge, refresh, and cultivate greater present moment awareness with “The Art of Mindfulness,” a guided mindfulness practice. Offered three times a month, the session invites participants to focus attention in different ways on a work of art from the Lowe Art Museum’s collection. Register now for the session on May 17, May 24, and May 31. Established in 2016, the program was developed as a collaboration between the Lowe and Miami Law’s Mindfulness in Law Program. Guided practices are offered in partnership with UMindfulness and Mindfultime.

University instructors are invited to the EdTech Café open forum. 
Wednesday, May 18, and Thursday, May 19, at 12 p.m.
Offered by the Division of Continuing and International Education, the open forums are an opportunity to unwind and share success stories from the spring semester. Participants will learn best practices and get ideas based on chosen topics. No prep is needed. Led by senior instructional designer Cate Dowman, this virtual event is part of the Distance Learning Institute’s ongoing series, EdTech Café with a special focus on conversations with colleagues. Register now for the session on May 18 and May 19. This series occurs every third Wednesday and Thursday of the month to assist the University of Miami teaching staff in creating successful, engaging courses.

The University’s Department of Travel Management has partnered with Southwest Airlines to offer discounts on Business Select® fares, Anytime fares, and select Wanna Get Away® fares to and from all Southwest Airlines domestic and international destinations. Learn more about the discount during a webinar on Wednesday, May 25, at 2 p.m. Discounted rates are automatically applied when booking through the University Travel Portal. Sign up for a virtual demo and training on the University travel portal on Tuesday, May 24, at 2 p.m.

Prepare for hurricane season. 
Tuesday, June 7, at 12 p.m.
Participate in a one-hour interactive training that is appropriate for all levels of experience with hurricanes and strongly recommended for everyone. The class offers a brief discussion about hurricane facts and figures, information on how to interpret forecasts, and provides important details on how to stay safe before, during, and after a storm. All faculty and staff members and students are encouraged to register. Contact the Office of Emergency Management at oem@miami.edu or 305-284-8005 for more information or to schedule a group session for your department. Employees enrolled in the Well ’Canes Incentives program may be eligible to receive 100 points for attending the training.
