Effective January 1, 2023, members enrolled in a University of Miami/Aetna medical plan will have their pharmacy benefits administered by Aetna. Pharmacy benefits include retail, mail order, and specialty pharmacy. As a result of the transition, we are expanding our pharmacy retail locations.  Members can access any Aetna in-network pharmacy, including the UM pharmacies and Walgreens.

Ninety-day maintenance medication benefits will not change. Members can continue to fill maintenance medications in ninety-day supply at UM pharmacies, Walgreens, or any other Aetna in-network pharmacy.

Mail order prescription refills will transfer from Optum RX to Aetna/CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy. Additional information will be sent from Aetna in December.

New Aetna ID cards, which include the pharmacy information, will be mailed to the home address in Workday in late December. Please ensure you are providing your new ID card to your pharmacy on or after January 1, 2023, for new or renewing prescriptions.
