5 things you need to know this week

Attend the next Faculty Senate Meeting hosted by President Frenk. 
Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m.
All University faculty members are invited to attend the meeting and take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions and voice their concerns directly to the president. It will be held virtually. Unlike other senate meetings, this one will have no set agenda, but it will allow faculty members to meet with the president in a smaller setting. Visit fs.miami.edu to learn more about the senate, its representatives, and to get meeting information.

Join a committee and support the women of the University of Miami.
Deadline to join is Nov. 11.
The American Council on Education (ACE) Women's Network is a national network dedicated to advancing and supporting women in higher education. The University of Miami chapter invites faculty and staff members to join the committee and collaborate on programming that supports and assists women. Members meet once or twice per semester and serve a two-year term. Complete the interest form to learn more and become a member. 

Use the University travel portal for business and personal travel.
Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m.
With the University’s transition to a new travel agency, World Travel Inc., faculty and staff members are encouraged to attend a virtual training session and learn how to use the travel portal. This one-hour webinar will discuss the online reservation process from start to finish. ’Canes are required to use the portal for business travel, and they are encouraged to use it for personal travel, as well. Register now for a training session.

Support a culture of inclusion at work.
Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 3:30 p.m.
Be an ally for the trans and nonbinary community. During this virtual meeting, Lauren Foster, director of concierge and LGBTQ+ services at UHealth Hospital and Clinics, will share her insights and advice on how to be a better ally and how to support a culture of inclusion and belonging at work and in the community. Be a part of the conversation.
