For the thirteenth year, the University of Miami joins the South Florida community for the Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC), which provides critical philanthropic support to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System. Since 2010, the DCC has raised more than $53.9 million, donating 100 percent of participant-raised funds to Sylvester and providing resources to continue to drive research breakthroughs that improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.

With more than 3,500 participants already registered, this family-friendly team event includes the option to run, walk, or cycle, so there’s something for all members of the ’Canes family. Register now to participate with Team Hurricanes on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s DCC.

  • Registration is free for all members of the University family, including faculty, staff, students, and alumni. At checkout, use promo code DCCNOW13. Participants are responsible for reaching the minimum DCC XIII fundraising amount.
  • University employees and students must use their University of Miami email address (med.miami.edu or miami.edu) when registering.
  • Choose one of the 138 existing teams to join by searching in the field provided, or create your own team within the Team Hurricanes family. When registering a new team, be sure to include “Team Hurricanes” before the team name. For example, “Team Hurricanes—Life@TheU.” Easily edit your team name via your team profile page by clicking the small pencil next to your team name. Learn more about Team Hurricanes
  • Participants can choose to join the DCC in person at Hard Rock Stadium, or they can support the cancer community virtually. Virtual participants receive different benefits, which are based on the fundraising amount. Registration for in-person and virtual participants will remain open until Friday, Feb. 10.
  • Immediately following the ride and walk, in-person participants are welcome to enjoy complimentary food and drinks during an all-inclusive celebration at Hard Rock Stadium. Purchase tickets for family and friends to attend.
  • Participants who raise $1,000 by Feb. 15 are eligible to receive an adidas Team Hurricanes hat. Those who raise $3,000 or more for the DCC will receive a special gift from both the Dolphins and from Team Hurricanes.
  • Participants can connect their DCC fundraising page directly to Facebook, which can make it easier to invite your circle of friends to help you meet your DCC fundraising goals. Learn more about fundraising
