To kick off 2024 Open Enrollment, the Human Resources’ Total Rewards team hosted on-campus fairs, allowing faculty and staff members to learn more about their benefits and enjoy fun (and healthy) activities. From Oct. 9 to 12, more than 4,500 faculty and staff members attended the fairs on the Coral Gables, Marine, and Medical campuses. The in-person events offered more than just a glimpse into employee benefits; they provided an experience focused on wellness. Attendees had the chance to unwind with soothing chair massages, snag swag items, learn about their health through biometric testing, and receive a flu shot.

“It's safe to say that this year's Open Enrollment fairs have been the best ones yet,” said Cristina Elgarresta, associate vice president of Total Rewards. “I love to see our faculty and staff having fun while learning about their benefits for the upcoming year."
Make benefit changes before Friday, Oct. 27.
Review your benefit elections, covered dependents, named beneficiaries, and contact information. If your current selections are to remain the same, you do not need to make changes with the exception of Flexible Spending Account (FSA) elections. Your FSA amount must be updated each Open Enrollment period for the following year.
However, if you would like to make adjustments, log into Workday, and click the “2024 Open Enrollment” banner under announcements, or select the task “Open Enrollment Change” in your inbox.
Register for a virtual Open Enrollment information session.
Faculty and staff members can register for an online session on topics that include health care benefits, vision and dental plans, life insurance and long-term care. Sessions, which are organized by topic, begin on Monday, Oct. 16. Check the full schedule and register to attend.
Don’t forget about annual updates and enhanced coverage.
- Flexible Spending Account elections are required to be updated annually. And as of Jan. 1, 2023, enhanced access to mental and behavioral health benefits are covered under Aetna. Find answers to frequently asked questions and learn more about the steps you need to take during open enrollment.
