Understanding depression seminar
Tuesday, Oct. 8–Friday, Oct. 11
As part of Depression Awareness month,
 attend a seminar to better understand the mood disorder, including risk factors, symptoms, and recommended treatments. These presentations will be offered by Faculty and Staff Assistance Program on Oct. 8 at the medical campus, Oct. 10 at the Coral Gables campus, and Oct. 11 at the marine campus. Celebrate Leonardo da Vinci at ‘Leonardo’s Way’ fun day
Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m.
The University of Miami commemorates the 500-year anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci by hosting a family day on the Coral Gables campus. Hosted by the Lowe Art Museum, Frost School of Music, and the College of Arts and Science’s department of physics, guests will participate in interactive science experiments and a scavenger hunt before enjoying food trucks, dance, and other creative activities. This event is free and open to the public, ages five and up. Register now.

Ask the experts: GMO, organic…What does it all mean?
Friday, Oct. 11 at 12:15 p.m.
Ever wonder what GMO, organic, and other food labels mean? Learn about the history of these terms to better understand what is in our food with the help of expert Elizabeth Tweedy, RD, LDN from UM’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Employees enrolled in UM’s Well ’Canes incentives program can earn points by attending this session on Friday, Oct. 11 at the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center, classroom A. Food Day 2019 
Monday, Oct. 14–Wednesday, Oct. 16
Every October the University community joins in honor of World Food Day, a worldwide celebration and movement of healthy, affordable, sustainably produced food, and a grassroots campaign for better food policies. As part of this year’s planned events, participants can attend a keynote lecture and reception at the Kislak Center, take a plant-based cooking masterclass at the Herbert Wellness Center, and stop by the Fair Food Fair and farmers market on the Coral Gables campus. Learn more about these events, which are presented by UM’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement with support from ECO Agency, GreenU, and the Butler Center for Service and Leadership.
