The DCC is far from your typical fundraiser because every dollar raised by Team Hurricanes goes directly toward research conducted at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. It’s also a great team-building event for all departments across campus—you can help each other meet fundraising goals, train, cross the finish line, and celebrate.
Here are a few tidbits you may not know about the event—and why you should register to participate.
There’s a celebration after, and you’re invited.
All employee participants will receive one free ticket for a friend or family member to attend the DCC finish-line celebration, which will feature live music, free food, and family activities—including a petting zoo. Additional tickets can be purchased online for $25. (Attendees younger than 13 are free of charge.)
The University contributes to your fundraising.
All employees receive a match of up to $50 from the University toward their fundraising goal.
There’s zero cost to register.

You’re eligible to get money back from the University.
Well ’Canes Incentive program participants will receive 500 wellness points for completing the DCC, which is more than 50 percent of the points needed to receive $150 back from the U. Not registered for the wellness incentive program? Register today.

All members of Team Hurricanes will receive a Team Hurricanes/UM swag bag—which will include a cycling jersey for cyclists or a T-shirt for runners or walkers, a bag, a hat, and a surprise gift.

All employee participants will receive 15 percent off at Mack Cycle and Fitness in South Miami.
You can win a free lunch for your team.
The employee team that raises the most revenue will receive a catered lunch courtesy of Jacqueline Travisano, Ed.D., and Stephen Nimer, M.D.
