Data Privacy Day 2020

As part of an international initiative aimed at providing privacy education and increasing data protection awareness, the University of Miami will hold the third annual Data Privacy Day event on Thursday, Jan. 30 at the Shalala Student Center Complex on the Coral Gables campus. Take this opportunity to learn from Kate Black, the former first global privacy officer for a leading consumer genetics company, 23andMe. Black, who will discuss the privacy frontier in the age of digital surveillance, focuses on consumer, health, and genetic privacy law. Lecture and book signing with professor Rhonda Magee
Monday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m.
As part of the University of Miami’s Mindfulness Research and Practice Initiative, or UMindfulness, the program will host Rhonda Magee, professor of law at the University of San Francisco, and author of “The Inner Work of Racial Justice: Healing Ourselves and Transforming our Communities Through Mindfulness," for a lecture and book signing event. Magee is an internationally-recognized innovator, storyteller, thought and practice leader on integrating mindfulness into higher education, law, and social justice. Register now and learn more.

New year, new fitness classes
Multiple dates
Jump into a new fitness class at the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center on the medical campus. Sign up for the next small group training class, which consists of personalized circuit-style workouts based on participant’s exercise level. Held twice a week for six weeks, the 30-minute workout classes are now offered in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Contact Lindsey Sastre at lxs1305@med.miami.edu to register for small group training. Can’t commit to a 6-week program? Try a group fitness class, including two new offerings free with membership; cycling and strength is an intensive cardiovascular training at 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and ATTACK!—a 55-minute body-weight sports conditioning workout—is offered on Fridays at 4:30 p.m. Learn more.

To keep with NCAA legislation, the University of Miami asks that employees and boosters refrain from providing extra benefits or services to student-athletes or prospective student-athletes. An extra benefit is any special arrangement by an institutional employee, or a representative of the institution’s athletics interests (booster), that’s provided to a student-athlete or a prospective student-athlete or their friends and family.
