President Frenk to host the next Faculty Senate meeting 
Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 3:30 p.m.
All University faculty members are invited to join President Julio Frenk for the Faculty Senate meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 3:30 p.m. It will be held the Herbert Business School McLamore Executive Education dining room located on the third floor of the Aresty Building at the Coral Gables campus. Take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions and to voice your concerns directly to President Frenk. Please note that meetings hosted by the president have no set agenda and allow faculty members to meet with him in a smaller setting. Learn more.

Learn to cultivate gratitude
Monday, Feb. 10–Thursday, Feb. 13
Develop your capacity to cultivate gratitude and discover the many benefits associated with living a gratitude-filled life. Part of Leap into Well-Being, a 29-day challenge hosted by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, this seminar will allow participants to review ways to make the practice of gratitude a core part of their lives. University employees can register to attend a session. Employees enrolled in UM’s Well ’Canes Incentives program can earn points by attending this session. Learn more.

Join Firdaus Dhabhar, professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, as he discusses ways of optimizing your stress spectrum to harness the protective effects of short-term stress. Governor John Kasich to visit the Coral Gables campus
Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m.
The University of Miami Student Government “What Matters to U” speaker series continues this week with John R. Kasich, the two-term former Ohio governor, who will visit the Coral Gables campus on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. in the Shalala Student Center. The event will be moderated by Keegan Gibson, a senior majoring in biomedical engineering, and Judge Ellen Venzer, a Miami law school adjunct professor. Register to attend this next installation of the program, which aims to provoke discourse—about relevant topics oftentimes not covered in the classroom—and to engage students with a variety of perspectives.
