Open Enrollment begins Monday

Faculty and staff members should plan to review and make changes to benefits beginning next week. Here’s everything you need to know about employee benefits for 2022.
Open Enrollment begins Monday

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review and make changes to your medical, dental, disability, and flexible spending account benefits. Changes are effective Jan. 1, 2022. This year, Open Enrollment runs from Monday, Oct. 11, through Friday, Oct. 29.

Here’s what you need to know for 2022.

What is Open Enrollment?

During Open Enrollment, benefits-eligible employees can add, change, or remove benefits enrollment elections. Election changes made during open enrollment are effective on Jan. 1, of the following year. Outside of open enrollment, employees may only make changes within 30 days of a qualifying status change.

When is Open Enrollment?

Monday, Oct. 11, through Friday, October 29,  2021.

Are there changes to the University’s benefits plans?

The University’s benefits plans and coverage for medical, dental, and vision remain the same in 2022.

What do I need to do?

If you are interested in changing your current benefits plan, or have questions about current elections, you should attend an information session to learn more about the details of each plan. During these sessions, faculty and staff members can explore how to maximize savings through University of Miami providers, utilize in-network providers through Aetna, or discover the benefits provided through a Health Reimbursement Account plan (HRA) to use out-of-network providers.

A virtual benefits fair will take place during the weeks of Oct. 11 and Oct. 18, with virtual presentations from University providers, including Aetna, Optum, Fidelity, and Carisk. View the schedule and register to attend.

Visit www.miami.edu/oe to compare details and costs of each plan, find assistance from benefits experts, and to get answers to frequently asked questions.

Faculty and staff members who have additional questions about elections or changes to their benefits can review the Human Resources’ Total Rewards FAQs, contact the pay and benefits team by completing the online inquiry form, or call 305-284-3004.
