Faculty and staff members should plan to review and make changes to benefits beginning Monday, Oct. 17. Attend an in-person benefits fair on the Coral Gables, marine, and medical campuses, and register for an information session.

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review your medical, dental, vision, disability, and flexible spending account benefits and make any changes to ensure your choices continue to meet your needs. Changes are effective Jan. 1, 2023.

This year faculty and staff members can attend in-person ’Canes Total Rewards Fairs to connect with benefits experts and learn more about their benefits. Scheduled at the Coral Gables, marine and medical campuses, attendees can get a free flu shot, biometric testing, and massage, among other amenities. View the full schedule

Can’t make it to the in-person events? Attend an online information session to hear from HR-Total Rewards team members and University benefits vendors. Register to attend a virtual information session.

What's new for 2023?

  • Aetna will offer enhanced access to mental and behavioral health services through a pilot program.
  • Aetna will be providing prescription drug coverage.
  • During Open Enrollment, Voluntary Excess Life insurance premiums are reduced and enrollment is guaranteed—without needing to provide medical information—up to three times an employee’s salary to a maximum of $1 million.
  • Take advantage of expanded access to UHealth care through One Medical, a new primary care partner, which offers in-person appointments and 24/7 virtual care.
  • There are no increases in premiums for vision and dental coverage.

What do I need to do?

Visit miami.edu/oe to compare details and costs of each plan, find assistance from benefits experts, and to get answers to frequently asked questions.

If you’re happy with your medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefit elections, there’s nothing you need to do. All elections will roll over to 2023, with the exception of Flexible Spending Accounts.

Faculty and staff members who have additional questions about elections or changes to their benefits can review the Human Resources’ Total Rewards FAQs. Contact HR-Total Rewards, your pay and benefits team, by completing the online inquiry form, or calling 305-284-3004.
