From watch parties to alumni celebrations, the University of Miami Alumni Association will be hosting several events across the country in honor of the upcoming Inauguration Ceremony of University of Miami President Julio Frenk, which will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at the BankUnited Center on the Coral Gables campus.
Adding to the fanfare of UM pride, the Alumni Association recently unveiled an alumni-owned and -operated businesses in Florida feature. The community can use the interactive database to browse hundreds of businesses by region, industry, or alphabetical listing. This feature is part of the week-long inauguration celebration of UM's sixth president Julio Frenk.
"We are incredibly proud to feature alumni-owned and -operated businesses as part of President Dr. Julio Frenk's Inauguration. By showcasing the economic impact of 'Canes across the state, this effort is one of the many ways we are introducing the president to our active and vibrant alumni community," said Donna Arbide, associate vice president for Alumni Relations and Individual Giving. "Our interactive map features more than 300 Florida businesses, many of which offer discounts for fellow UM alumni. We hope to continue building on this impressive 'Cane footprint in the years to come."

'Canes Communities Tip-Off Parties

Join our 'Canes Communities, formerly known as alumni clubs, for Tip-Off Parties around the country to watch the Men's Hurricanes Basketball game vs. Duke Blue Devils. Enjoy free appetizers and celebrate our athletic excellence with fellow 'Canes. Registration is now closed, but walk-ups are welcome.
Celebrating Alumni-Owned and -Operated Businesses

As a welcome to President Frenk during Inauguration Week, the UM Alumni Association invites alumni-owned or –operated businesses in Florida to be featured on the Inauguration website as we celebrate the statewide economic impact of our alumni. Participating businesses will receive a commemorative map, UM-branded window cling and a table tent to display, and will also be added to our map of proud supporting businesses. It’s a great way to show off your ‘Cane pride, gain visibility for your business, and perhaps offer a business discount to fellow ‘Canes. Sign up to participate.
National Corporate Inauguration Gatherings

In an effort to engage major businesses with a large number of University of Miami alumni employees, including businesses that are alumni owned or operated, we invite interested companies to host a corporate inauguration gathering. In exchange, your business will receive a special inauguration kit and supplies for the celebration, assistance with marketing and the RSVP process, and a listing of your company on the official inauguration website as a participating organization for our corporate gatherings.
