Last week, the University of Miami came alive as new students participated in the Department of Orientation and Commuter Student Involvement’s weeklong orientation program known as ’Cane Kickoff.

The week was filled with move-in days, information sessions, dean’s meetings, various events hosted by campus partners that featured pizza and desserts—and maybe a bit of nerves as first-year and transfer students said farewell to their families as they prepared to take flight on their academic adventure.

University President Julio Frenk hosted a celebration for new students to kick off the beginning of another academic year.
